As a child, I was a competitive gymnast up through level 8. I enjoyed gymnastics tremendously, but decided to make the switch to high school sports in order to live a more “balanced” life. While in high school, I participated in Volleyball and Cheerleading (Football) all four years. After graduating high school, I attended Western Michigan University where I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education/Elementary Education. While attending WMU, I spent 3 years on the Co-Ed Cheer Team where I was able to utilize my gymnastics skills and overall experience with Sideline Cheer for an incredible new experience of co-ed collegiate cheerleading. WMU is where I found my true passion for coaching cheerleading.
Since my collegiate cheerleading days, I have had the great opportunity to coach several different styles of cheerleading. I have coached all-girl high school style (Football and Basketball), co-ed collegiate style (North Dakota State University) and all-girl collegiate style (Franklin College). On top of my coaching experiences, I’ve also had the opportunity to teach tumbling and help run tryouts at several college clinics and gymnastics facilities.
While assisting at Franklin College, I had the great privilege of working with the Hollywood Cheer & Tumble coaching staff and learning more about the All-Star style of Cheerleading through their Senior Level 5 Co-Ed team. I look forward to integrating this knowledge and all my previous experience into the Xtreme Cheer Senior Level 3 Co-Ed squad, and cannot wait to get started.
I truly look forward to this new challenge and partnership with Tami at Dance by Design, and I am thrilled at the obvious potential and athleticism the program brings.
